Ms. Adrienne McDowell

Adrienne McDowell is a dedicated educational leader and a proud native of Jackson, Mississippi. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Thee Jackson State University, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.

Ms. McDowell has served the students of Jackson Public Schools since 2008, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student growth. Over the course of her sixteen-year career, she has worked to ensure that all scholars have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in both academic and career pursuits.

As a classroom teacher, Ms. McDowell achieved numerous professional milestones, including being honored as the 2018–2019 Jackson Public Schools Teacher of the Year. Most recently, she served as a district-level ELA instructional coach for the high school network, where she supported teachers in implementing effective, research-based instructional practices and played a key role in using data to drive
significant academic growth in ELA across the network. Guided by her core belief that "if scholars are not mastering a skill, it is our responsibility as educators to find creative solutions to meet their needs," she consistently prioritized student learning and teacher development.

In her current role as Assistant Principal at Forest Hill High School, Ms. McDowell brings her passion for scholar achievement, a strong instructional leadership background, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. She is dedicated to supporting both scholars and staff, promoting high expectations, and ensuring that every scholar is equipped with the tools needed to thrive
academically, socially, and emotionally.
