Dr. Brad Blake
Greetings to each of you witnessing USJ become a school of excellence!
I have been married to Jennifer Blake for nearly 27 years! We have been
blessed with 4 children. Our oldest son, Ibrahim, is a college grad. serving as a software development at Ergon. Our oldest daughter, Rahamatu, is a senior accounting major and Spanish minor at Harding University. Our youngest son, Musa, is a sophomore computer science and mathematics
double major at Abilene Christian University. Our youngest daughter,
Imani, is a high school junior enjoying choir, culinary arts, and Scouting.
When our family returned from northern Nigeria in 2008 after 17-year
career in ministry and missions, I began pursuing Tennessee licensure as
a social studies educator. This led to opportunities in Memphis (2010),
Millington TN (2011), and Warren Central (2012) in Vicksburg. While at WC,
I became National Board Certified (2014). This led to my selection to be
equipped by the Ole Miss Principal Corps (2015). After my Corps selection,
I was placed in Clinton. After Corps completion (2016), I served as an
assistant principal at Vicksburg. Thereafter, I was selected to serve as the
lead principal at Magee High (2020) then Riverside High (2021) leading to
successful accountability ratings for both secondary institutions. The
impact of long commutes on my family led me to accept a local assistant
principal role at Lanier High then follow the JPS deputy superintendent's
request to serve as the Cardozo Middle interim principal.
After serving at USJ for a year, my goals are: 1) cultivate our freshmen
academy’s culture of scholarship which rewards attendance, character,
and growth; 2) improve the culture for tasteful decor, cleanliness, and
stimulating student-work; 3) collaborate with stakeholders to raise
graduation with intervention on freshmen struggling to attend, belong,
and be motivated; 4) serve teachers with feedback to improve outcomes;
5) ensure safety, security, and wellness via connection and fulfillment.
