In recognition of the importance of literacy and culturally relevant reading, the JPS Office of Library Services and Teaching and Learning team recommends a curated list of literary works for scholars, educators, families, and community members to explore during Black History Month.

The two-day event highlighted innovation, creativity, and academic excellence from scholars across the district.

A proud Jackson native and JPS graduate, Mrs. Jackson has spent 13 years in education, including eight as a professional school counselor.

Byrd finished the season with 1,065 yards and nine TDs on 151 carries, had 81 receiving yards and averaged 37 yards on three kickoff returns.

The award was announced in November 2025 alongside other honorees.
